Leadership Development Academy

Launching college graduates to early career success and satisfaction

New graduates in computer engineering or MIS rightfully worry about the transition from campus to corporate.  ICC turns those concerns into confidence through early, intensive, personalized training that is unique in the industry.

ICC’s Leadership Development Academy is a 6-8 week program for our recent university graduates that provides the practical skills to start building the platform for early success.  The Academy supports the individual’s strengths and goals.

“We’re equipping and investing in bright young professionals with the baseline concepts, tools and technology commonplace in the industry today.  Instead of your first job being limited to a single industry, such as insurance or pharmaceuticals, you can see the exciting variety in consulting for yourself, and where your best fit is.”

                          –  Rick Ritzler, ICC Vice President for Recruiting

Led by ICC experts, the Academy offers general business overviews of the theory behind the technology, in-depth exposure to specific tools and on-the-job experience. New graduates take part in:

  • Grasping the professional business aspects of being a consultant
  • Training in relevant technology, such as, Java, .NET, SharePoint, ETL, and other targeted paths
  • Immersion in advanced methodologies and technologies
  • Working on projects to reinforce technical skills
  • Self-study with comprehensive evaluation and certification

Listen to our graduates about the benefits from the Academy:

.NET Developer | Phoebe Hyder (Miami University, Computer Science, 2008)

“In college, we covered a lot of object-oriented programming, but I wasn’t familiar with .NET at all. I felt very comfortable coming here to ICC because of their emphasis on training entry-level developers like me with no experience. I wanted to go where I would always be learning new things, and ICC seemed to be a place that would keep me up to date on current technology. From the beginning, I worked with a lot of senior developers, and I got more comfortable. I never felt pressured that I didn’t know enough. There were always people I could turn to, to learn more about what I was doing. It was a very comfortable learning environment for me, and that training was a factor for my satisfaction at ICC. My advice to graduates is to be patient and work hard to stay current on the latest technologies. Expect that your learning is not done after college.”

Software Developer and Engineer | Tony Brown (Ohio Northern University, Computer Engineering, 2009)

“My college program was half software and half hardware, and I did a good bit of coding, but the Academy helped me hone my software skills. The Academy helps you understand the complexities and administrative side of how projects are put into production, going beyond simply learning the hot buzz items in the industry to individualize our experience — making it very relevant to environments at client sites.  The Academy was a deciding factor for many of us for why we joined ICC. One of the greatest skills the training gives you is to figure out how to understand a project quickly and jump in.”

Client Services Manager | Laura Bastin (Ohio University, MIS and Marketing, 2007)

“The Academy allows you to know up front about everything you might have been interested in or heard about in school, but didn’t get trained in. It helps you understand what type of technology you are good at, and find out more how to do that.  I thought I was going to be in a more of a technical role, but I really had no idea what I wanted to do. At ICC, I’ve been able to take different roles that fit me. Right now, I help consultants achieve their career goals by supporting their performance reviews, obtaining certifications, visiting client sites weekly and more. The Academy is part of the ICC culture, a culture that is open and willing to help people meet their career goals, and that atmosphere is the main reason I continue to stay.”
